How Kimberley Christian School Started

Kimberley Christian School (KCS) has a rich history rooted in the vision of Lizette de Villiers, who saw the need for a quality Christian school in Kimberley. Inspired by the success of other Christian schools in the Northern Cape and Free State regions, Mrs. de Villiers began homeschooling her children using the A.C.E. curriculum in 2000 while living on a farm in Namibia.

KCS officially opened its doors on January 17, 2007, with 10 learners and 2 educators. Lizette de Villiers served as the founder and principal, with Mark Roemer as the co-founder and administrator. As of 2024, the staff includes Mark G. Roemer (Administrator & MD), Godwin Amenyah (Acting Principal & Senior Supervisor), along with qualified supervisors and monitors.

The school utilizes the A.C.E. School of Tomorrow curriculum for Grades R to 7 and IEB Online for Grades 8 to 12. KCS has moved locations several times, starting at Ethel Fynn Hall, then to De Beers Country Club, Sanctuary Farm, and currently at the Learning Centre at KEW, 170 Phakamile Mabija Rd.

KCS aims to grow in both size and reputation, addressing the shortage of schools and high learner-to-teacher ratios in public schools. The school plans to secure its own property and buildings and seeks financial sponsorships to build a renowned institution. To facilitate funding, KCS has registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and Public Benefit Organization (PBO) under the name Kingdom Vision Operations NPC (KVO NPC), Registration No: 2013/005125/08.

Kimberley Christian School’s EMIS No. is 300017408.
